Turning the Tide on Maritime Threats

As marine dangers evolve with new missiles, drones, and radar-guided projectiles, Elbit Systems' advanced electronic warfare solutions step up – creating a shield that adapts, deflects, and keeps fleets safe.

Recent maritime incidents, including high-profile missile attacks on cargo ships and drone strikes near strategic ports around the globe, bring forward the growing complexity of naval threats. These events demonstrate that traditional defenses alone are no longer sufficient, as missiles, drones, and radar-guided threats become more accessible to hostile forces.
In response, Elbit Systems- ISTAR & EW-Elisra’s Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions, Aqua Marine™ and Deseaver, introduce a new level of protection by combining Signal Intelligence with active countermeasures to escort and shield vessels from evolving dangers as well as counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) and maritime border protection. Together, these integrated systems provide naval forces with critical situational awareness and a multi-layered defense strategy tailored to address today’s sophisticated threats.
“We’ve designed a solution that doesn’t just defend – it anticipates and adapts,” says Danny, Senior Director of Naval SIGINT & EW Solutions.

Passive and Active Measures

Aqua Marine, an Integrated EW Suite (IEWS), integrates Naval on-board passive and active measures combined with EW command and control management. By monitoring signals in the surrounding area, Aqua Marine architecture approach enables to analyze and gather SIGINT data while performing situational awareness picture, detect anomalies and fast threats alerts.
Meanwhile, Deseaver adds an off board active layer to this defense strategy. When relevant incoming threats are detected, the IEWS integrates the Deseaver offboard countermeasures as part of the IEWS engagement, diverting threats away from the vessel and decreasing the likelihood of a successful strike.
“Deseaver works hand-in-hand with Aqua Marine, creating a coordinated shield that makes it hard for threats to find their mark,” says Danny.
Based on the data-link capabilities, which is especially valuable when enemies deploy multiple missiles or UAS from different directions – a tactic increasingly observed in recent conflicts, our comprehensive naval EW solutions aim to thwart the threat posed by unmanned aerial systems in an effective manner.
In addition, the sophisticated battle management and command and control assists forces to control the spectrum without interference.

Real-Time Awareness for Informed Decisions

Aqua Marine’s advanced situational awareness tools help operators to visualize threats in real time. Using radar electronic support measures (RESM) and communication intelligence support measures (CISM), Aqua Marine tracks enemy radar activities, detecting and identifying signals that indicate potential threats. This allows comprehensive protection by activating electronic attack measures and other soft-kill and hard-kill protection measures.
In addition, using special measures, vessels can stay one step ahead of threats by allowing the crew to disrupt the enemy's electronic arena without being discovered.

Leveraging AI and Unmanned Technologies

Elbit Systems has integrated advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and unmanned platforms into its EW and SIGINT solutions to meet the demands of modern naval warfare.
The inclusion of AI in Aqua Marine allows the system to quickly process large volumes of data, identifying potential threats and optimizing defensive responses. “AI gives a real boost to our capabilities,” Danny explains. “It enables the system to learn and adapt faster than any human operator could, staying one step ahead of even the most complex threats.”
Additionally, Aqua Marine and Deseaver support coordinated operations with unmanned assets. Through integration with unmanned aerial and surface platforms, naval forces can extend their reach and monitor threats from a distance, creating a cohesive defense network.

Field-Proven Reliability

Elbit Systems has long been a leader in naval electronic warfare, with decades of proven experience across global fleets. Aqua Marine and Deseaver uphold this legacy, addressing both current and emerging threats with adaptability and resilience.
These solutions not only strengthen the defensive capabilities of today’s naval fleets but are also designed to evolve as threats become more sophisticated.
“Our systems aren’t just tools – they’re trusted allies on the field, built to protect today’s fleets and tomorrow’s missions,” Danny concludes. With deep expertise in EW and SIGINT, Elbit Systems offers a comprehensive and reliable shield for navies operating in increasingly contested waters, helping them stay secure and mission ready.
